Mao Lizi | Beyond color
March 21st - May 25th, 2019From March 21st to May 25th, 2019, the Galerie A&R Fleury presents “Beyond color,” a monographic exhibition devoted to one of the founding members of the Star Group, the Chinese painter Mao Lizi.
In its new space on avenue Matignon, inaugurated last October, the Galerie A&R Fleury brings together thirty works by this avant-garde artist, previously unseen in France. It is an opportunity for the public to immerse themselves in the sensitive and dreamlike work of the Chinese painter, whose work has not been exhibited in France since the 1990s.
Anchored in the Chinese calligraphic tradition, but far exceeding it by means of a personal language, chromatic ink stain halos are at the heart of the sensual approach of an artist in search of a sensitive and simple nature.
Dense colours, powerful gestures, rhythms of composition, symbolic language: Mao Lizi’s work, a true visual philosophy, invites the viewer on an inner journey.
